Marvin E. Pettet 1930 - 2003 Memorial services will be held for longtime Owens Valley resident Rev. Marvin E. Pettet, 73, on Wednesday, April 30, at the Neighborhood Church in Bishop at 11 a.m. Rev. Steve Sperry will officiate. Additionally, viewing will be on Tuesday, April 29, from 6-9 p.m. at Brune and Buck Mortuary. Born in San Bernardino on Feb. 25, 1930, Mr. Pettet died on April 24, 2003 at the Bishop Care Center. Having proudly served in the United States Air Force, Mr. Pettet began his ministry at the local Four Square Indian Mission. After ministering there, he ministered the church in Johnnesburg from 1971-74. In later years, he ministered and evangelized all over the Western United States and in 1975, became a founding member of the "Good Shepard International" in Davis. This group has since expanded and now is in countries all over the world. He has worked with the local Native Americans on several projects. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Artie Pettet; brother, Melvin Pettet; and his first wife, Betty Pettet. He is survived by wife, Patricia Pettet of Bishop; sons, Marvin Edward Pettet Jr., and Arthur Pettet of Cody, Wyo.' Daughters, Elizabeth Huffman of Post, Texas and Lorraine Grosjian of Kuna, Idaho; stepchildren, Rhia Lawler and Bruce Rowe of California; sister, Wilberta Reef of Victorville; brothers, Eric Duane Banta of Sacramento and Elwin Banta of Sacramento and Elwin Banta of Bishop; 25 grandchildren ad 10 great-grandchildren. Interment will be at the East Line Street Cemetery.
