Mattie 'Maxine' Daywalt 1936-2004 Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for 30-year Bishop resident Mattie "Maxine" Daywalt. Rev. Caddy Jackson of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Born in Alvin, Texas on June 20, 1936, Maxine died Dec. 5, 2004 at her residence in Bishop. She was 68. Maxine and her late husband, Jack, moved from the Los Angeles area to the Bishop area with their two youngest children in 1974. They owned and operated the Wash Tub Laundromat and Drycleaners from 1974-1985. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Daywalt. Maxine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cheryl Daywalt of Cypress and Ron and Kimberly Callahan Daywalt of Bishop; daughter and son-in- law, Debra and Donald Gallegly of Nuevo, Calif.; daughter, Carol Baratti of Bishop; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Delbert Brown of Benton; companion, Bob Wilson of Big Pine; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
