Final Rites Held for Merle Reed Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 28, at Gering, Nebr. for Merle C. Reed, 58, of Bishop. Mr. Reed passed away after a lengthy illness at a Scottsbluff, Nebr. hospital. Merle was a native of Nebraska. He and his wife, Mildred, have resided in Bishop for the past three years. Merle, or "Unc" as he was known by his co-workers, was employed by Josephs Bishop Wholesale Grocery and was a member of the Bishop Elks Lodge. Mrs. Reed taught at the Bishop Elementary Line Street School. Besides his wife, other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Smith, of Omaha, Nebr. and Mrs. Janie Robbins of Denver, Colo.; one brother Walter of Loup City, Nebr.; four sisters, Mrs. Florence Tockey of Bishop, Mrs. Elsie Schenck, of North Platte, Nebr., Mrs. Mae Christiansen and Mrs. Phyllis Coffman, both of Fullerton, Calif.
