Molly Maxwell Furey 1923-2004 A funeral service was held in Riverside on Thursday, Nov. 11 for former Bishop resident Molly Maxwell Furey. Molly died Nov. 3, 2004 at the age of 81. Born May 16, 1923 in Northern Ireland, she and her mother, Charlotte Maxwell, emigrated to the U.S. in 1949, living in Bishop with her sister, Betty Maxwell Claude. Molly worked for a time at Joseph’s Bi-Rite Market. Her sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Dan Bromley, both served as Inyo County clerks. Molly is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Furey, a former DWP structural engineer who worked on the Owens River Gorge Project in the late ‘40s. She is also survived by her sister, Betty, brother-in-law, George Claude; nieces, Betty Bromley Adamson, Pamela Bromley Bulpitt and Terry Claude; and nephew, Mark Claude.
