Patricia Ann Ripley Funeral services for Bishop resident Patricia Ann Ripley, 68, will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bishop at 11 a.m. Born in Arkansas on May 2, 1934, Mrs. Ripley died on April 17, 2003 at her home in Bishop, surrounded by family members. A beloved mother, grandmother and friend, she married her husband, Bob, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. They began their family and had three children. Pat worked with children in a special education program and then later as a preschool teacher at Grace Lutheran Preschool in Bishop. Mostly, Pat devoted her life to her family as a wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She had a special love for all children and animals. Her kindness and beautiful smile will be remembered and missed by all who were touched by her life. She had a long and courageous trial with cancer, and her family rejoices that she is "at home in heaven with the Lord this day and for all eternity." Her faith enabled her to believe in the following words of Jesus: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life." (John 5:24) She is survived by husband, Robert of Bishop; daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and Von Tatum; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Larry Marty; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Denise Ripley; and all her beloved grandchildren, Laura, Timothy and Jeffrey Tatum, Amy and Matthew Marty, and Scott, Amanda and David Ripley. "Although she will not be present in body, her love continues in our hearts ... until we meet again," her family said. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Pat's memory can do so to Grace Lutheran Preschool, c/o Grace Lutheran Church. These gifts will be used in a special way to help perpetuate Pat's love for children.
