Robert A. Curtis In keeping with his request, no funeral services will be held for Robert A. Curtis, 77. A 37-year resident of Bishop, Mr. Curtis was born in Los Angeles May 11, 1921 and died Feb. 11. A teacher for 34 years, Mr. Curtis began his career at John Marshall High School in Los Angeles then taught at Bishop Union High School until retirement in 1977. He was instrumental in setting up the high school’s auto shop in 1962. He also taught at the University of Southern California’s School of Engineering. Mr. Curtis was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific in World War II and the Korean Conflict where he was promoted to rank of lieutenant on the aircraft carrier Phillippine Sea. He belonged to the Oregon State University, Corvallis, Ore. Alumni Association and the California Retired Teachers Association. He also served as chairman of the Bishop Planning Commission for several years and was a member of the Airport Commission. Survivors include wife Dorothy M. Curtis of Bishop; son Clark M. Curtis of Bishop; and grandchildren Kenneth M. Curtis and Krystelle M. Curtis, both of Paris, France.
