Robert James Campbell 1930 - 2003 A funeral mass will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church in Granada Hills, for Robert James Campbell. Born May 19, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., Robert died Oct 5, 2003 in his home in North Hills. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette; son and daughter-in-law, James Craig and Susan of Bishop; daughter, Joan Marie of Calabasas; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Ann and Brett Garrett of Oak Park; son Robert Michael of Woodland Hills; sister, Dorothy of Tinley Park, Ill.; grandsons Ryan and Joey, Granddaughters Katie and Lynsay, many nieces, nephews and his extended family of dear friends. Robert graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago and attended Purdue University Extension Campus in Hammond, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U. S. S. Midway from 1948 - 1952. He worked for Hollymatic Corp., Allis Chalmers, and transferred to Southern California with his family from Illinois in 1976 while working for Continental Can Company. He retired from Crown Cork and Seal Co., in 1995 after 25 years of service. Robert was an avid golfer who loved to fly fish in the Eastern Sierra. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
