Rosie August Funeral services were held Jan. 21 for Rosie August of Bridgeport following her death Jan. 18 at Mono General Hospital. She was 83. Mrs. August was born Nov. 22, 1900, in Mono Lake, CA, the daughter of Joe and Lizzie Brown. While she lived in Mono Lake, she worked for Venita McPerson at the Mono Inn. She moved to Bridgeport in the early 1920's and worked at the Westerner Café and the Resort Café, retiring in 1962. Mrs. August was one of the last basket weavers of Mono County. Her baskets are now on display at the Pasadena Museum. The Rev. Stanley Summers of the Great Commission Pentecostal Church officiated at the funeral services held at Bridgeport Memorial Hall. Burial was in Bridgeport Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hank, Bob, Herb and John Glazier, Ralph Charlie and Bill Sam. Survivors include a son, Kenneth August of Bridgeport; a daughter, Edith McCann of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Penny Glinger, Rose and June August of Bridgeport; two nieces, Emma Brazzenovich of Sun Valley, NV, and Marry Turner of Bishop; two nephews, Alvin Lent of Bridgeport, and Jim Glazier of Wellington, NV.
