Roy Raymond Maddox Funeral Rites for Pvt. Roy Maddox held Tuesday Funeral services with military honors, were held Tuesday afternoon in Independence, for Pvt. Roy Raymond Maddox, U.S. Marine Corps, who died in action in Vietnam, February 28. Rev. E. L. Luckensmeyer officiated at the services, held at Sierra Baptist Church. Burial followed at Independence cemetery, with a Marine honor guard firing the salute. Pvt. Maddox was born May 4, 1949, in Ridgecrest. He had been in the battle area less than three months, and was the eighth man from Inyo County to lose his life in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Mabel Maddox of Fort Independence.
