Salvador De La Cerda Funeral services for Salvador De La Cerda will be held Tuesday Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m. at San Fernando Mission Rey cemetery. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall in San Fernando. Salvador was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, godfather, Tio, el amigo and compadre. Born Aug. 23, 1918 near Keeler, Sal died on Jan. 5, 2003 at his daughter, Rosemarie and her husband, David's, home, where he had resided during the last years of his long life. Sal enjoyed a good story as well as sharing a good story, and he gave nicknames for people that have lasted three generations. He was a great athlete and fisherman. His athletic record at Lone Pine High School still remains. He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie; son, Sal; son-in-law, David; three sisters, Vera, Annie and Connie; four brothers, Adolph, Savino, Ralph and Vincent; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother John, his sister Margaret, his daughter Delia, his grandson Daniel, and his wives Angelina and Annie. Viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Utter McKinley Mortuary in San Fernando.
