Death of Col. Stevens. -  The death of Col. Sherman Stevens, at Lone Pine will cause deep 
regret among all who knew him.  In his wide circle of acquaintances every one was his 
friend.  A kindly, genial gentleman, he was everywhere respected and esteemed.  His life 
has been passed in varied scenes and experiences, all over the Union.  He was one of the 
first to settle in this valley, and has made it his home since.  His nearest surviving 
relatives are Miss Marcia Stevens and Mrs. Jno. C. Heenan, daughters, and two sons, 
Sherman V. and Augutus.  The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. tomorrow, the 18th, at 
the Lone Pine cemetery.
