Thomas Lewis Hansen 1925-2004 A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Church of the Firstborn in Harrisburg, Ore. For former Big Pine resident Thomas Lewis Hansen. Born July 28, 1921, in Bellevue, Ohio, to Hans Peter and Lillian Lewis Hansen, Thomas died in Monroe, Ore. on Nov. 22, 2004 of age-related causes. He was 83. Thomas graduated from high school in Bellevue, Ohio, in 1939, the same year he married Betty Colvin. They later divorced. He married Eileen Mack on Feb. 14, 1946, in San Bernardino. Wounded in the Merchant Marines during World War II, Thomas was hospitalized in Algeria and continued his recovery in the Cleveland Marine Hospital. Thomas later served in the Coast Guard, and was honorably discharged. He lived in Bellevue until 1945, in San Bernardino until 1948 and in Big Pine from 1948-49 and from 1952 to 1966. Thomas then lived in Esmeralda County, Nev., from 1940 to 1952, and had lived in Monroe since 1966. Thomas retired from DG Shelter Products in 1983 as western industrial sales manager. He had been a bishop in the Church of the Firstborn since 1961. He had been recognized for his work as a 4-H leader. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandchild. Thomas is survived by his wife, Eileen; four sons, David of Harrisburg, Michael of Barre, N.Y., and Thomas and Terrance, both of Clyde, Ohio; a daughter, Catherine Mange of Monroe; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
