Victor Musick 1914 - 2003 Graveside funeral services for Lone Pine resident Victor Musick will be held on Saturday, June 28, at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery in Lone Pine at 11 a.m. Pastor Ben Sparks will officiate the services, which will include a presentation by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. A potluck luncheon will immediately follow the services at the VFW. Born Dec. 22, 1914 in Johnson City, Texas; he was raised in Bucknar's Orphanage. After his graduation, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, which brought him to Lone Pine in 1934, where he met Genevra "Nevy" McElroy, whom he married in 1936. Together they had two sons, Victor H. and Vernon. Working at Safeway as a general store manager, Victor eventually moved to the Los Angeles area, where he was employed by Joseph's Freight Lines. He then retired from Certified Grocers. Victor was preceded in death by his son, Vernon. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Genevra; son, Victor H. and daughter-in-law Erma; grandchildren, Victor Scott, Tandi Musick-Carver, Eric, Shawnna Rumrill, Vernon "Rusty," Edward Musick and seven great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Southern Inyo Hospital for the purchase of new beds.
