Vivian Nora Yoder 1913-2003 Funeral services will be held for eight-year Big Pine resident Vivian Nora Yoder, 89, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Big Pine at 11 a.m. Pastor Tim Toppas will officiate. Born to Francis S. Strain and Malinda Jane Henson Strain in Whittier, Calif. on March 27, 1913, Mrs. Yoder died on Feb. 20, 2003 in Big Pine. Vivian attended Whittier schools and married Lester A. Yoder on Sept. 27, 1929. She lived in and around Southern California until moving to Florence, Mont. in 1946. She then moved to Hemet, Calif. in 1950 and worked as a cook for the Hemet Unified School District. Her husband was transferred to Washington in 1965, where they lived for 22 years. They moved to Lucerne Valley in 1987, and after her husband's death, she moved to Big Pine to be near her daughter in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lester A. Yoder, and son, Charles L. Yoder. Vivian will be buried next to her husband in Lucerne Valley Memorial Park. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Betty and George Borlace of Big Pine; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Karen Yoder of Custer, Wash.; sister, Maria Frazier of Whittier; 11 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.
