Prominent Big Pine Man Dies Monday Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon of this week for William Carlos Vance, prominent Big Pine resident who died at the Northern Inyo Hospital 5:10 p.m. Monday of this week following a heart attack earlier that day. Mr. Vance was born in Peru, South America, September 28, 1910 and had been owner of the Big Pine General Store for the past three years. He was a member of the Big Pine Lions Club, past president of the Inyo Associates, a member of the Guardian Lodge F and AM in South Gate as well as a member of Winnedumah Lodge F and AM. He is survived by his wife Cleo Vance of Big Pine, his father, Carl Vance, Los Angeles; two sons, William Vance Jr. with the Air Force at Huntsville, Ala.; and Robert Vance of Big Pine; a daughter Marilyn Neil of Fresno; two brothers, James and Robert Vance, both of Long Beach, and six grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Big Pine Community Church with the Rev. John Binkley and the Winnedumah Lodge F and AM officiating. Interment will be at the Big Pine cemetery.
