William E. Utter Jr. Graveside funeral services for life-long Inyo County resident William E. Utter Jr., 71, will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 11 a.m., at the East Line Street Cemetery. The Bishop Elks Lodge #1603 and the Bishop Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8988 will officiate. Mr. Utter was born in Big Pine on Sept. 19, 1923. A member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, #1603 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8988. Mr. Utter died Aug. 9 at the Northern Inyo Hospital. Survivors include his 20-year companion and friend, Katherine Keesler of Bishop; sister, Betty Walton of Ajo, Ariz.; daughters, Sheryl Mc Cartney of Santa Cruz, Dayna McClary of Costa Mesa and Deborah McCartney of Costa Mesa; grandchildren, Melissa Moltey of Bishop; and nephews, Gregory Walton of Santa Barbara and Jeffrey Walton of Vacaville. Donations in his memory can be made to the Bishop Elks Lodge, VFW, the Laws Railroad Museum, or the charity of your choice.
