William Harvey Paine 1914-2004 Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. for 20-year Bishop resident William Paine. The Reverend Caddy Jackson will preside. William, 89, died of a heart attack following hip replacement in a Los Angeles hospital. William was an aircraft engineer for 25 years at General Dynamics and was recognized by the county for his leadership in Sierra Trek for Scout Explorers. The mountains were a fine background for black-and-white photography. Nature also furnished material for the tapestries William weaved. William is survived by his wife, Martha; brother Charles Paine of Menlo Park; daughters, Charlotte Tinker of Corona, Melissa Farrell and Leslie Koseluh of Alaska; step-children, Marsha Harris of Madera and William and Kathy Putnam. The Nguyen family, "adopted" when they escaped from Vietnam, sill call William "Papa" as do his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
