William J. (Bill) Jacobs Final Rites Held For Former Bishop Youth Killed in Action Final rites were conducted at Lancaster Tuesday of this week for Corp. William J. (Bill) Jacobs, former Bishop youth, who was killed in action in Vietnam February 28. He was born March 11, 1947 in Long Beach and had lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jacobs in Bishop for 16 years. He attended Bishop Elementary Schools and three years of high school at Bishop. He was active in the FFA, the Young Farmers Newman Club, and the T Timers Club prior to being drafted last June 13. He was assigned to a hospital in Vietnam as a medic January 1. He died of mortar wounds received in action in Tan An, Mekong Delta. Besides his parents he is survived by four brothers, Korry, Mark, Gregory and Peter and a sister, Janie Jacobs, all of Lancaster. He also leaves a grandfather, K. A. Jacobs of Quartz Hill and a grandmother, Mrs. Mary Stafford, of San Jose. Final rites were held at the Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster and interment followed at the Joshua Memorial Park, with military honors by the personnel of Ft. MacArthur.
