William McDonald It is given to few to pass naturally from life as unwarned and probably as painlessly as did William McDonald Monday afternoon. He stood at the cashier's window in the Inyo County Bank transacting some business. Suddenly he sank to the floor. A number of persons were near at the moment, and he was immediately carried into the bank office. Dr. Doyle was summoned by phone, and came at once. Efforts were needless, however, for it was evidently all over when he collapsed. Beyond spasmodic gasping no further sign of life was shown. Only a few minutes before he had been talking to his daughter, Mrs. Bedford and to Mrs. Pitman, her aunt on the street, as well as others he had met. Several months ago he had an attack of illness which foreshadowed the end.
