Former O. V. Resident Called By Death Willis Moore Brooks passed away May 15 after a brief illness in Torrance, where he has residded(orig. sp.) with his family for a number of years. Mr. Brooks was well known here, as he came to Independence in the early 1900’s where he took charge of the United States Weather Bureau and the Wells Fargo Express office. He later lived in Lone Pine and Bishop, where he worked for the Southern Sierra Power Company. The family moved a number of years ago to Torrance, establishing their home there. Mr. Brooks was active in civic life and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by his widow, Minnie Singbaub Brooks, and two sons, Phillip and Comet.
