Winifred "Winnie" Ernestine Fretheim
1917 - 2003

Born to Ernst and Dororthy (Bjorkman) Stille on Sept. 7, 1917 
in Chicago, IL, two-year Independence resident Winifred 
"Winnie" Ernestine Fretheim, 86, died on Wednesday, February 
12 at her home in Independence, after a long battle with 
lymphoma.

Mrs. Fretheim was baptized and confirmed in the Augustana 
Lutheran Church.  In 1935, she graduated from North Park 
Academy in Chicago and later earned an Associate of Arts in 
Office Management from North Park Junior College in 1937.  
She attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis in 1940.

Winnie married Pastor Paul M. Fretheim on Nov. 22, 1941, in 
Chicago.  At every parish they served, Winnie managed the 
church records and enjoyed preparing the Sunday
