Julia Woods
1921-2009

A celebration of life for Julia Woods will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the home of Chance and Becky Johnson, 1009 E. Line St., Bishop
Born in Bishop on Aug. 22, 1921, Julia died at the Bishop Care Center. She was 88.
Julia was one of four children born to Luca and Cornelia Cesprini. She had three brothers, Ernest, Camillio, and Joe. Julia’s parents were from Osella, Italy. Julia’s father, Luca came to Bishop in 1910, with Cornelia and Ernest arriving in 1912, Camillio, Joe and Julia were born in Bishop.
Julia grew up in Bishop. She attended grammar school in west Bishop and graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1938. She married Joe Woods in 1946 and they had one daughter, Beverly
After high school Julia worked for the California Interstate telephone Company and Schultz Five and dime. In her later years, she worked at Schat’s Bakkery. She worked at Schat’s for 30 years, retiring at the age of 80. Julia enjoyed seeing the local customers everyday and had fond memories of her coworkers and the Schat family.
Joe and Julia were very proud of their three grandchildren, Mike, Jeff and Becky. They enjoyed spending time with them and were their biggest fans.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her three siblings, and grandson, Mike.
She is survived by her daughter, Bev and son-in-law, Roy Boothe; grandson, Jeff and wife Brandie Boothe; granddaughter Becky and her husband, Chance Johnson; and great-grandchildren Michael and Morgan Boothe and Cade and Lexi Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Laws Railwood Museum.
