Varela, Miguel Y, Sr. - Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight at Hopson Mortuary Chapel and requiem Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadeloupe Chapel for Miguel Y. Varela, Sr, 58, 1817 Crawford Street, who died Friday in a Bakersfield hospital. Rev. Daniel De Dominics will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Varela was a native of Mexico and had resided in California for 26 years. He was employed by Haberfelde Ford for 26 years as an auto painter and was foreman of the paint department. Mr. Varela was a member of the Mexican-American Golf Association and the Bakersfield Public Golf Course.
Survivors include his widow Isabel; two sons Mike Varela, Jr. of California City and Guillermo Varela of Bakersfield; a daughter Virginia Gonzales of San Jose; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jack Pertif, John Oroslas, Frank Canas, Luke Higgins, Joe Kennedy, and Lawrence Ortega. Honorary pallbearers George Marantos and Augustine Martinez.

The recitation of the Rosary will be held in the San Clemente Mission Friday evening at 5:30 P.M. for Taft resident, Valeriano Villanueva, 36. Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery, Taft, on Saturday morning at 10:30 A.M.
Mr. Villanueva was born in Laredo, Texas on December 5, 1956 and passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Monday evening. He spent most of his life in Kern County and had lived in Taft since 1987. He was employed as a quality control inspector for Consolidated Fiberglass. Mr. Villanueva was a member of the Bakersfield Christian Life Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his two children, Leslie in 1979 and Tommy in 1991. His survivors include his wife, Margaret Villanueva; his children, Emily, Valeriano Jr., Jeremy and David, all of Taft; his parents, Juan and Ramona Villanueva of Bakersfield; his brothers and sisters, Andrea Villanueva of Texas, Jesus, John, Benito, Mary Ann Villanueva, Concepcion Villanueva and his wife, Della and Esther Martinez and her husband, Leonel, all of Bakersfield and Pedro Villanueva and his wife, Angie of Fresno. Friends may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to pay their respects.

VINCENT, Albert Hamilton - Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Erickson and Brown Chapel for Albert Hamilton VINCENT, 90, of 512 Buchanan St., Taft, who died Friday morning in a Bakersfield Hospital. Burial will follow in Westside District Cemetery. A native of Missouri, Mr. VINCENT was born July 19, 1898, and before his retirement was a gasoline engineer for prairie Sinclair Oil Co. He is survived by two sons, Roosevelt VINCENT of St. Louis and Clyde VINCENT of Union City; a daughter, Ruby OWENS of Taft; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
