My name is Anita Crabtree. I am the coordinator for Lake County, CA GenWeb (Genealogy).
If you would like to contribute your information to this page, please contact me at anitajc@pacific.net
If you would like to host a county of your own please contact the
State Coordinator Richard S. Wilson

At this point I would like to give credit to a great deal of my information.
Although not an "official" part of CA GenWeb, KATHI ALVEY has been giving me a lot of information that she has compiled in her hours of research. I will try to remember to give her credit on the pages that she has given to me.

Do YOU have Lake County connections?
If so, I invite you to send a transcription of Marriage Announcements, Birth Announcements, Obituaries,
Biographies, Letters, Autograph Books, etc., to be preserved for the History of Lake County.
We have few volunteers to transcribe information, so every little bit helps

"LOOK-UPS" - Look-ups are for information
  • Contained in the Genealogy Library or Museum;
  • Newspaper microfilms for Births or Marriages up until 1950;
  • Obituaries up to the present.
    Contact Anita Crabtree

  • A new research source, which includes census records -
    Genealogy Look-up Forum

    Nobody is a "professional researcher".   Volunteers do not go to the Courthouse and do not search Land Records.

  • Request information from only ONE source: (Museum, Historical Society, Genealogy Society, Library or an individual volunteer of Lake County).   This is a very small county and all of the information is kept in the same place, so we all use that same information. With so few volunteers to do look-ups, we hate to use our time duplicating work.
    Also, the volunteers use their time doing "Look-ups" for people who don't live in the area. If you live in Lake County, go in and make use of all of the wonderful information at the Genealogy research library and Museum. Or go to the Lake Co. Library in Lakeport to read old newspapers on microfilm.

    We do not look up missing friends, relatives or any living person. Post any query of that type on

    Rootsweb LOST FAMILY AND FRIENDS

    Understand that the Genealogy records that are available, go from about 1850, to maybe 1950. There is no access to Vital Records in some of this time, although there might be an obituary listed in a Newspaper Index.
