CALAYOMI SCHOOL

1913

By 1881 Callayomi School District had been formed from a part of the Middletown School District.. The school was four miles west of Middletown, immediately on the south side of English Creek. (between Harbin Springs and Anderson Springs) Fifteen or twenty children generally went to the Callayomi School. When the tariff on quicksilver was removed, the mines closed down and many families moved away from Middletown, and there was plenty of room in the school house.
