SURNAMES: DE LAP
I have a bible that belonged to Hiram De Lap of Vernon Co. WI who
retired and died near Salem, OR. This bible contains some family information
on an Elliott family that lived in Vernon Co. which was then called Bad
Ax Co., WI. Hiram's son, Charles Ransom De Lap came west with some other
people on the train in 1879 from WI. Perhaps they were from the same Elliot
family because in Feb 1940, Charles Ransom, his wife Martha Octavia and
son Chester De Lap, he visited some Elliotts in Scott's Valley, Lake Co.
CA. The De Laps also visited Simpsons, Armstads, Riggs, and Gruell families
in the area in 1940. The information in the bible is from an earlier bible
or notebook and pasted in. and contains birth and death dates from 1798
to 1855. Would share a copy with interested Elliot(t) descendants.

SURNAMES: EDE
I have the birth/death dates of BELVA ALICE EDE April 13, 1915 -July
13, 1915. She was the infant daughter of EDGAR FRANCIS and ALICE (WESTFALL)

dates and name matches the family information), but no members of the family
remember EDGAR and ALICE living in Lake County. It is even believed that
BELVA ALICE EDE is buried in Kingsburg, California...the same place the
family says she died and was born. I am trying to clear up this mystery,
but do not know where to find out this information.

SURNAMES: JAMESON
My interest is in knowing if anyone there has info about whether
birth information for the time 1882 through ca. 1895 for the areas of Ladoga
and Stonyford are readily available, and/or if there's anyone on line working
with the name Jameson at those times. Or, if there are any southern Baptist
itinerant preacher bits of data around for the period. Very unlikely, I
know!!! Thanks much. Jim Justeson, La Mesa, Ca (whose mother and grandmother
were born in Sites and Ladoga respectively.) We have a couple of pictures
of Sites ca. 1906, but never had any of Ladoga, though it's so much nothing
that it's probably little different except that former Gov Pat Brown's
mother's place is no longer a stage stop, if I remember it rightly.

SURNAMES: SIDWELL
James and Celia SIDWELL came to CA from MO with 3 sons Odd Thomas,
Milton, and George. I saw a J. C. Sidwell listed as a laborer in Kelseyville
in the 1878-79 "Directory of Yolo, Solano, Napa, Lake and Marin Counties"
on page 188, though that J. C. may be a brother. James and Celia had to
have died no earlier that 1869 and probably no later than the early 1900's.
Would someone please check in the cemetery books?

SURNAMES: WITTER
I am searching for any information on WITTER SPRINGS in Lake Co.,
CA. From what I know, Dr. Dexter WITTER, purchased the mineral springs
in 1871 and opened a health resort hotel a couple years later. "Witter
water" was to have remarkable medicinal strength and it was bottled right
at the spring. The location was about six miles west of Upper Lake, CA.
It faced financial difficulties, and about 1915-1920 everything was sold
and the building was torn down.
