Sonoma County, California
Reference and Lookup Page

I have listed many of the Sonoma County books that are available, although certainly not all. If you own any Sonoma County books, whether listed or not, and will do look-ups, please let me know. As you can see, volunteers are needed.

Please put SONOMA COUNTY LOOKUP in the subject line of your request to insure the message is not overlooked or accidentally deleted. In the first line of the message please put the name of the book you are requesting the lookup in.

If you request a lookup, don't forget to thank your volunteer for their time.

Sonoma County Library

The Sonoma County Internet Library is an excellent source of Sonoma County Historical and Genealogical information. They can be reached by clicking on the legend above. They have most of the Sonoma County Historical and Genealogical books that have been published as well as journals and private papers. Check their web site to view a complete list of titles they have available.

E-mail requests should be limited to One (1) subject per query. They will also do mail checks but only if you provide a self addressed stamped envelope. Be as specific as possible as they are unable to respond to blanket general requests. Written requests should be addressed to the attention of the Local History and Genealogy Annex.

Healdsburg Lookups

June Smith has graciously offered to do Healdsburg area specific lookups in Healdsburg resources: Healdsburg Museum's research library.
A local newspaper index (births, deaths, marriages, businesses, churches, organizations, schools etc.) covering the period 1862 to 1940.  It is a work in progress.  City of Healdsburg assessment roles 1867 to 1967 (missing 1878-1881), business licenses, and other city records.  Some early land records, militia muster rolls etc.  6,000 photographs sorted by subjects.  Also on the Museum's shelves:  most of the Sonoma Co. Gen. Society's publications, high school yearbooks, Sonoma County histories, maps, family and subject ephemera files
