Mammoth Lakes is the only
incorporated city in Mono County. From 1861-1864 Aurora was
the county seat of Mono County.
It was then found to be 4 miles within the boundaries of the State
of Nevada. You can find some
history on the city of Aurora at Bitofhistory.com. It is now located in Mineral
County, Nevada.
