Mrs. Lollie Silva

Mrs. Lollie M. Silva, 89, of Monterey, died yesterday in a local hospital after an extended illness.

A native of Monterey, she was born May 23, 1882, and spent most of her early years in the Big Sur area. Her great-great grandfather was Juan Vasquez of Sonora, Mexico, who came to California in 1776 as a member of the De Anza expedition.

Mrs. Silva was the widow of Joe Silva, who operated a dairy farm in the Soledad area until his death in 1938. She had been a resident of the Peninsula for the past 35 years and made her home with her grandson Irvin Franscioni of Monterey.

She is survived by a daughter Madge Hook of Soledad; five sisters, Mrs. Juanita Silva, Mrs. Theresa Berquist, Mrs. Helen Barbie and Mrs. Lyda Winters all of Seaside, and Mrs. Viola Walters of Monterey; nine grandchildren two great-grandchildren and on great-great grandchild.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Farlinger Funeral Home.

Mass of the Resurrection will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at San Carlos Cathedral, preceded by brief rites at 9 a.m. at the mortuary.

Burial will follow at Monterey Catholic Cemetery.
