Mrs. Margaret Perry Taylor

Mrs. Margaret Perry Taylor, a well known resident of Carmel for more than 50 years, died Saturday in a local hospital after a period of failing health. She was born Sept. 8, 1873, in Chicago, Ill. With her husband, the late Peter Taylor, she came to make a home at Monte Verde street and 5th Avenue in Carmel, where Mr. Taylor served on the first Carmel Council following the city's incorporation in 1916. He died in 1936. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. John S. (Jean) Chitwood of Carmel, whose late husband was the mayor of Carmel in 1958-59; a sister, Mrs. E.H. Herr of Seattle, Wash., and a grandson, John S. Chitwood Jr. of Carmel. Private family services were held at 11:30 a.m. today, with Rev. C.E. Wilson of Robert Louis Stevenson School for Boys officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Cementerio El Encinal Columbarium. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
