on Lighthouse avenue in New Monterey. He was born in Monterey 53 years ago, married to Bessie Escobar, also a
native Montereyan, and to them were born three daughters and one son, who survive their father.
Mrs. Artellan passed away nearly fourteen years ago. The surviving daughters are Miss Julia
Artellan, Mrs. Tony Castro, and Mrs. William Diaz all residing in Monterey. The son Sidney, who lives in Monterey.
Three sisters Mrs. E Vasquez, Mrs. John Leoni, Mrs. J Butler, and two brothers Pete and A W also survive him.

Carlos Catholic church at 10:30. Interment to be held in the Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Artellan is known as one of Monterey's most enthusiastic baseball fans, never having missed
a game in years, and following the home team when they journeyed to cross bats with teams in nearby towns and even
to San Francisco. He encouraged the youngsters in their vacant lot games, often picking out boys who used their
skill on full-grown teams many years later.
