GRAVESIDE RITES ARE CONDUCTED FOR MRS. BULLENE
Graveside services were held in Odd Fellows cemetery this morning for Mrs. Grace Corey Bullene, 89,
who passed away Friday night at 9:30 o'clock in Centinnella Valley Community hospital Inglewood, Calif., where she
had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Grace Petrik.
Mrs. Bullene, formerly Grace Smith of Paraiso Springs and Salinas, was married in 1892 to Josiah P.
Corey, Salinas valley farmer, who, with his family removed to the Yuma valley in 1909. Mr. Corey died in Yuma in
November of 1935. His widow married Alfred Frank Bullene of Pacific Grove, an old friend of the Corey family, March 2,
1948, and made her home with him at 229 Seventeenth street, Pacific Grove, until his death in January, 1956. Since
then she had been dividing her time between her daughters, Grace Petrik and Isabel Buse of Quartzside and Yuma, Ariz.,
and her son, Harold Corey, of the Yuma Valley.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Salinas and later of the Methodist church in Pacific
Grove. Mrs. Bullene also is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Esther Schupbach of Midland, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the granddaughter of Forest Handley of Soledad, and
the great-grandmother of Robert Wade Conley, 19, son of Emmett Conley of Salinas.
