Yesterday afternoon after a short funeral service at the residence of G. A. Daugherty on San Luis street,
the remains of the late Mrs. Martha E. Gardner were taken to the Gabilan street M. E. Church. The edifice was filled
with sorrowing friends when the funeral cortege arrived. A short funeral address was given by the pastor, Rev. A. C.
Needham, after which the cortege was reformed and wended its mournful way to the I. O. O. F. cemetery, where interment
was made. The pallbearers, whose aggregate ages was exactly 400 years, were William Percey, Carr S. Abbott, T. S. Mabel,
J. H. McDougall, W. H. Clark and J. R. Hebbron. In obedience to the request of the deceased lady no flowers were
brought by friends.
