Nicholas Vucina, a resident of Seaside since 1825, died yesterday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Vucina was a native of Yugoslavia and came to the United States in 1910, moving to the Peninsula 15 years later. He made his home at 916 Palm Ave., Seaside, with his brother, John Vucina. He was never married. Mr. Vucina worked as a cook at the Pom Pom Restaurant and was a member f the Bartenders and Culinary Workers Union. In addition to the brother with whom he lived, he leaves another , Steve Vucina, in Yugoslavia; and two nephews, Mike Vucina of Monterey and John Vucina of Seaside. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday in the Dorney and Farlinger Memorial Chapel. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier Church of Seaside, following brief rites at 9 o’clock in the Dorney and Farlinger chapel. Burial will take place in the Catholic section of Mission Memorial Park of Seaside.
