Henry D. Schnittgrund, a civilian employee at Fort Ord for the past 20 years, died unexpectedly Saturday while attending an auction in Prunedale. Death was due to a heart attack, according to Coroner Christopher H. Hill Jr. Mr. Schnittgrund was 61, born June 17, 1898, in La Crosse, Wis. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Seaside Post 591, American Legion, and the 40-&-8. With his wife, Irene, he lived at 1394 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Robert Schnittgrund of San Jose; a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Watson of San Bernardino; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Whittney of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Helen Dean of Milledgeville, Ill.; three brothers, Otto Schnittgrund of Chicago, Erwin and Harold Schnittgrund of Davenport, Iowa; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Seaside Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph R. Mulholland of the First Baptist Church of Seaside officiating. Burial will take place in Mission Memorial Park.
