Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA May 28, 1960 p4
Jessie Bennet Tomblinson, a Peninsula resident for 20 years, died unexpectedly yesterday evening after he was stricken with a heart attack at Castroville shortly before 6 p.m. He was rushed by A-1 Ambulance of Salinas to the Monterey Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Mr. Tomblinson, a former civilian worker at Fort Ord, recently had been employed at a second hand store in Castroville, following his retirement five years ago. His home was at 90 Montecito Ave., Monterey, and he was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Madera, attending the Highlands Baptist Church in Seaside. He was born June 10, 1997, at Bonham, Texas. On Sept. 2, 1906, he was married to Renah Cox at Duncan in the Oklahoma Territory. In addition to his wife, now of Monterey, he leaves two sons, Leroy of Monterey and C.K. Tomblinson of Castroville; three daughters, Mrs. Maudie Coldren of Midland, Texas, and Mrs. Louise Stidham and Mrs. Donnie Schaffer, both of Monterey; two brothers, Jim Tomblinson of Sacramento and Walter Tomblinson of Seaside; three sisters, Mrs. Cornelia Howell of Duncan, Okla., and Mrs. Martha Syceniore and Mrs. Nora Hinel, both of Fresno; and 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. R.C. Simpson of the Southern Baptist Church of Salinas officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Memorial Park. Dorney and Farlinger Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
