Pacific Grove Tribune & High Tide, CA Aug. 31, 1934
Miss Esther L. Small Bride of Carl Faunce
With only members of the immediate families present, Miss Esther Lots Small and Carl Ossman Faunce, both of Pacific Grove, were married Monday afternoon in Watsonville. The ceremony took place at 3:30 o’clock in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam P. Gott officiating. Roscoe Small gave his siter in marriage and Harold Faunce served as his brother’s best man. After a short honeymoon they will make their home in Monterey. For her wedding the bride wore an afternoon dress of white, with white coat and matching hat and accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. In the evening a reception was held in the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Etta Small, on Fourth street, at which members of the family were present. A huge wedding cake, which formed the centerpiece of a daintily appointed table, was cut by the bride in traditional manner. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Small, Mrs. Etta Small, Mrs. Bertha Faunce, Miss Eva Small, Ferria Marks, and the bride and bridegroom. The bride was graduated from the Bret harte Junior high school in Oakland and from the Monterey Union high school. Her husband attended school in Santa Cruz and is now employed at a local cannery. To compliment Mrs. Faunce a surprise shower was given Saturday evening by Mrs. Donald Small at her home in Monterey. Dutch whist was the diversion, and later refreshments were served. At the party were Mrs. J.H. Hallett, Misses Florence Nielsen, Mary D’Acquisto, Eva Small, Eleen Di Faolo, Gertrude Ernst, Jean Hallett and the honoree and the hostess.
