Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Sept. 24, 1968
A Sept. 15 Wedding
San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey was the setting for the marriage of Sally Jean Bruno of Monterey and Arthur Elvyn Lake of Pacific Grove on Sunday, Sept. 15. The Rev. Joseph Watt officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Cannon Bruno of Monterey are the bride’s parents. The benedict is the son of Mrs. Lorraine Lake and Elvyn Lake, both of Pacific Grove. For her wedding, the former Miss Bruno chose an A-line gown of silk organza over satin, trimmed with peau d’ange lace and seed pearls, with a chapel train. Her tiered illusion veil was held by petals of lace and pearls. White phalaenopsis orchids and stephanotis were combined in the bouquet she carried. Mr. Joseph DiMaggio of Monterey was her sister’s matron of honor and the other attendants were Mrs. Bill Charland of Seaside and Mrs. Howard Wright of mtry. They were attired alike in long blue dresses with white lace daisy trim. Mr. DiMaggio, the bride’s brother-in-aw, served as best man and Mr. Charland and Mr. Wright seated guests. The reception following the ceremony was held at the Monterey Moose Lodge, where the newly weds cut a cake baked and decorated by the bride’s godmother, Mrs. Rose Scardina of Seaside. After a honeymoon in Southern Calfiornia and Las Vegas, Nev., the couple are at home at 845 Lyndon street, Monterey. The new Mrs. Lake attended Monterey schools and is a graduate of Monterey High School. Her husband, a graduate of Pacific Grove High School, studied at Monterey Peninsula College. They are both employed with Holman’s Department Store. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Peter Mancuso of Monterey and the late Mr. Mancuso and Mr. Joseph Bruno of Pittsburg and the late Mrs. Bruno. Mr. Lake’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bouley, are Pacific Grove residents. (PGHS) 1963 lake
