Mrs. Bessie Lee Schmelzel, a resident of Pacific Grove since last October, died yesterday morning in a local hospital. She was 84, a native of Fall City, Neb., where she was born Sept. 9, 1883. Widow of the late William Schmelzel, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Perry Getz, at 1007 Forest Ave. Her husband died in May 1958. In addition to her daughter, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Maude Hutchins of Saratoga; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in the Mortuary of San Jose, to be followed by burial in the Saratoga Cemetery. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
