Vivian Cady Bellman-Milistefr, who recently moved to Carmel Valley, died of cancer on Saturday at her home. She was 72. Mrs. Bellman-Milistefr was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She was a teacher and speech therapist for the Contra Costa School district and also taught music at Hartnell College and at St. Mary’s College in St. Mary’s, Maryland. She was also active in the education of American Indian children. She and her husband moved to Carmel Valley in December of 1991 after their home was destroyed in the Oakland Hills fire. She graduated from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and earned a master’s degree in speech therapy at Stanford University. She also served as a lieutenant in the Army during World War II, in special services, arranging talent for shows for servicemen. Mrs. Bellman-Milistefr is survived by her husband, Francis D. Milistefr of Carmel Valley; a son, Robert Bellman Jr. of Las Vegas; and a daughter, Laura Bellman of Kanasas City, mo. At her request, no services will be held. Following cremation, her ashes will be scattered at sea. The Mission Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Hospice of the Central Coast or to the American Cancer Society.
