The Bride’s Brother Officated at Wedding
The bride’s brother officiated at the wedding when Carmelita M. Solis and Gary Reno were married on Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Mayflower Church of Pacific Grove. The Rev. Salvador Solis officiated at the 7:30 p.m. rites. The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Manuel Solis of Monterey and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. & Mrs. George Seriac of South San Francisco and Howard Reno of San Francisco. Ginger Miller was soloist and Arnold Edman organist for the wedding. The church was decorated with baskets of white chrysanthemums, and many white candles. Twins Nick and Jerry Henares, cousins of the bride, were the candlelighters. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a princess gown of white peau de soi with a white lace panel the full length of the front. A bustle effect flowed into a train. Her waist-length veil fell from a rhinestone crown, and she carried white orchids and stephanotis. Isobel Solis was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Gordon Martin (JoAnne Vellis) and Mrs. Salvador Solis with Miss Dolores Henares, cousin of the bride, serving s junior bridesmaid. They wore mint green bouffant gowns of chiffon over taffeta with tulle crowns and carried bouquets of pink baby roses. Shelia Tulley, the bridegroom’s niece, was the flower girl, wearing white lace with a wreath of white and pink flowers, and carrying a basket of flowers. The bridegroom’s brother, Vernon Reno, served as best man. Ushers were Charles Tulley, Bob Santo, Nick Henares, and Jerry Henares. Mrs. Solis attended her daughter =’s wedding in a beige brocaded taffeta dress, avocado accessories, and a corsage of green cymbidiums. Mrs. Seriac chose a black lace and chiffon frock with black accessories and a white corsage. A reception was held at the church, with some 450 guests sharing the couple’s wedding cake. The bride’s grandmothers, Mrs. Rosarie Solis and Mrs. Rosarie Martin, both of Monterey, were among the guests, and the bridegroom’s grandfather, Elmer Reno of San Francisco, was also on hand. The newlyweds planned a honeymoon trip to Southern California and Mexico before settling in a San Francisco apartment. The bride was graduated from Monterey Union High School and Monterey Peninsula College and attended San Jose State College. The bridegroom is a graduate of Polytechnic High School in San Francisco and a veteran of four years service with the U.S. Air Force. He is presently employed as a sheet-metal worker in San Francisco.
