Martin Girotti, long-time Monterey Peninsula rancher and produce grower, died this morning in a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. Girotti, born in Italy in 1888, came to the Monterey Peninsula in 1914, where he ranched and operated a hog ranch in the Marina area. Mr. Girotti, who retired in 1945, made his home at 645 Casamova St., Monterey. He is survived by his widow, Maria and two sons, Everett and Mel of Monterey. Also surviving are two brothers, Varisto of the Carmel Valley and Angelo of Como-Coliso, Italy. He is also survived by a sister, Miss Palmira Girotti of Italy and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Miss Mort. A Requiem Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the San Carlos Cathedral with brief rites at the Mission Mortuary beginning at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Monterey Catholic Cemetery.
