“Mushrooms” Fatal to Seaside Man
Ted Stowe, 30, Seaside, died at a Peninsula hospital early this morning as result of having eaten poison fungi in belief they were mushrooms. An autopsy performed today confirmed the cause of death as “mushroom poisoning.” Mr. Stowe’s father-in-law, who ate some of the supposed mushrooms, was also stricken but recovered. The dead man ate a much larger quantity and efforts to save his life were futile. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Golda Stowe. Funeral arrangements, which will be in charge of the Dorney funeral home, are to be announced later.
