Pacific Grove Tide, CA April 2, 1937
Local Couple Excchange Vows in Hollister
Intending to steal a march on their many friends here, Mr. & Mrs. Russell S. Murray Jr., whose marriage was an event of Easter Sunday, almost but not quite got away with it. The young couple had managed to keep their secret until just a few days before the actual event when news of the pending wedding somehow leaked out. Even at that the announcement came as a complete surprise to many. Accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Burton, the coupe motored to Hollister for the ceremony where they were married at 2:00 o’clock in the Methodist parsonage. The bride, the former Miss Mary Walter, looked charming in a smart poudre blue dress of heavy silk crepe trimmed in British tan with which she wore matching accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. Mrs. Burton was dressed in a beige silk dress trimmed in white with which she also wore a corsage of gardenias. The newlyweds are now residing at 511 Eighteenth street, the home of the bridegroom’s parents; Mr. & Mrs. Russell S. Murray, while they are touring the country in a trailer. The bride attended grammar school here and later moved to Illinois, where she finished high school. She returned to Pacific Grove two years ago and is now employed with the Pease Drug Store. She is the sister of Mrs. Joseph Quaglia of Oak Grove, the former Miss Olive Walter, Mrs. Roy Lentz of Visalia and Albert Walter of Congress avenue. Mrs. George Gallos, who was Miss Kathleen Walter until her marriage two weeks ago, is a niece of the bride as is Miss Alberta Walter. Thomas, Richard and Edsel Walter are nephews. Mrs. Murray, who was born and raised in Pacific Grove, attended both the local grammar and high schools. He is the brother of Mrs. Robert S. Getz and Ms. Ralph Kent. He is now employed at Guy Getz Meat Market.
