Wildwood, Fla. - Alfred E. Smith, a retired advertising executive, died Sunday at the Lifecare Center in Ocala, Fla. He was 85. Born May 29, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Carmel for 25 years before moving to Wildwood, Fla., two years ago. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio, and did graduate work at Yale University. He last worked for Honig, Cooper and Harrington advertising agency in San Francisco. Among the accounts he handled were Bank of America, Dole Pineapple, C&H Sugar and Rhodes Department Store. He was a member of the Family Club in San Francisco and a longtime member of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Stuart Smith of Fresno; two sisters, Marian Jaffray of Wooster, Ohio, and Shirley Hash of Placentia; a brother, John Smith of Wildwood; three grandchildren and his fiancé, Hazel Whitlock of Charlotte, N.C. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 22 at the Church in the Forest in Pebble Beach.
