Opal Mae Adams Geary, a retired cafeteria worker for the Monterey Peninsula Unified District, died Thursday at the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula. She was 88. Born Dec. 10, 1911, in Wewoka, Okla., she lived in Seaside for 57 years. Mrs. Geary was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Seaside and enjoyed working with flowers and crafts, and crocheting and baking. She is survived by a son, Francis I. Geary of Fort Hunter Liggett; four sisters, Leona Wells of San Jose, Blanche Rickner of Drumright, Okla., and Charlene Staley and Loretta Rudisill, both of Seaside; two brothers, Neal Adams of Richland, Wash., and James Adams of Seaside; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Francis, died in 1967. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Seaside. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Lighthouse Baptist Church building Fund, Seaside. The Monterey Peninsula Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
