The Local History Card File, located at the Pacific Grove Public Library, is a card index to historical Pacific Grove and Monterey newspapers, generally from 1888 to 1995.

Beginning Jan. 1, 1995, obituaries have been recorded in the library’s online catalog, in the "Herald Index" (http://montn.ci.monterey.ca.us:81/). Items such as clippings and pamphlets, located in their upright “Local History File” are also indexed. Obituaries from Pacific Grove Hometown Bulletin, a newer newspaper, are also indexed.

Note that this is not a complete index to articles or obituaries, it is generally restricted to items concerning Pacific Grove.
