Woman Dies Victim of Auto Crash
Mrs. H. Louise Schultzberg Hit by Auto in San Jose While Alighting From Car
Formerly Taught in New Monterey
After Teaching Local Grammar School Became Superintendent of County Schools

Fatally injured in an auto crash, Mrs. H. Louise Schultzberg, formerly a teacher in the New Monterey grammar school and for several years Monterey county superintendent of schools, died late Saturday in the O’Connor Santarium at San Jose. Mrs. Schultzberg was hit as she alighted from a street car by an auto driven by J.F. McGoorty, 1908 Lyon street, San Francisco. McGoorty is being held by Sheriff George W. Lyle pending investigation of the accident. The victim of the accident taught in the primary grades at new Monterey 10 years ago. She was then promoted to the office of deputy superintendent of schools serving six years in that capacity under Superintendent George Schultzberg at Salinas. During those years she was known as Miss Louise Mignon. She later married Schultzberg, and when he retired from his school position to go into private business she became county superintendent. She resigned in 1921. Two years ago she received a decree of divorce from her husband, and since that time has lived in San Jose with her mother. Mrs. Schultzberg was 38 years old and leaves one small child, a daughter. She was a native of San Jose where she received her education. She is also survived by one sister who is now a teacher at the state teachers’ college in San Jose.
