In my maternal line, Horatio and Mary Snyder McGeorge, lived in Pacific Grove at the turn of the century. Horatio came across the plains as a little boy with his family in a covered wagon in 1851. He worked for the San Francisco Chronicle for a while, lived a long while in Watsonville, and then settled in PG where he ran a touring horse and buggy rental and driver service. Mary Snyder came around the Horn in a ship, was married several times apparently (once to a Sisson), had ran a boarding house on 18th Str. in PG. They are both buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Watsonville. Their daughter Sarah "Sadie" McGeorge, married George Burton, and lived in Klamath Falls, OR (where they adopted my mother and uncle). I would be interested in any information on the McGeorge family.
I also collect obituaries for the staff and students of PG High School (15,000+), and for those buried in El Carmelo Cemetery. |
