Pacific Grove Tribune, CA Sep 1, 1944
Lt. Robert Littlefield Reported Missing
Lt. Robert Littlefield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Littlefield of Monterey, has been reported missing in action over France since August 13. “Bob,” a P-38 pilot with the Eighth air force, had been stationed in England and for mission over enemy territory, had received the air medal and purple heart. He took part in the D-Day invasion as part of the air protection given landing forces. Further word is anxiously awaited by his parents and wife, the former Mary Jane Uzzell of Carmel.
